September 2023

“For God alone, O my soul, wait in silence, for my hope is from him. He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be shaken.”

Psalms 62:5-6

Last January when we set foot onto campus the emotions were high but all throughout first semester, we saw the hand of God. First semester flew by! By the time we caught our breath it was time for summer break. We hit the ground running into second semester and now over a third of the way there, we continue to feel His presence in our lives. “He only is my rock and my salvation, my fortress;” I love the description used in this verse of where we find our hope.

Making memories is all part of the experience. Melia (far right) is one of our classmates. It has been a real joy to get to know her and to see the work of the Lord in her life. The gal in the middle is Evelyn. She is one of Kathleen’s tutors this semester and has been a real joy to have around. That may in part be because we have grown to love Ecuadorian food, but we also enjoy her smile and laugh.

We really couldn’t do it without the students here at RGBI. They all play such a huge roll in us learning Spanish.

One of the other things we got to enjoy this month is a lot of celebrating! The month of September celebrates the independence of a couple countries that are represented here on campus and it made for some great festivities. We will add some pictures of some of the events on to our video for the month, so please make sure to watch out for that on YouTube.

We have seen a few rainstorms since our move to Texas. This one was by far the biggest. All the neighborhood kids got together on the dirt mound down the street and had a blast. It is great that the kids have people to make memories with as well! (30 minutes later the sun broke through and the water dried up…)

Our schedule has continued to be busy with classes, ministries, and activities. We appreciate the letters and packages, as well as the emails we receive. They are a huge part of carrying us along in the journey. As we start the documentation process for the move to Paraguay we appreciate your prayers as we get it all in order. We have all the paperwork for the kids passports and are just waiting for an appointment to be scheduled. Some offices are hard to get ahold of. Please pray that we can get these submitted in the next week and then we will begin the background checks for Kathleen and I. Also please pray as I secure representation in Paraguay to help us in the residency process. It can be tricky navigating the right person for the task that also wont cost us an arm and a leg.

Thank you for taking a moment to check in on us. Now, how can we pray for you?

Please send us an email or even give us a call. We would love to hear what the Lord is doing in your lives.

Jaha Paraguay Pe!

Kids’ Corner:

Jedidiah has been working hard on his Spanish too. This month he did an amazing job quoting the books of the O.T. at church. He has also made a new friend on campus who doesn’t speak English so he often comes in to ask how to say something. It has been a joy to watch him learn and grow.
